Frequently Asked Questions in most of your safari will be focused around finding and viewing wild animals, often at very close quarters. The animals are by nature wild and unpredictable. Your guide will be experienced at reading each situation and will always keep you safe, as you get as close to the action as possible.
When is a good time to travel?
There is no good or bad time to travel to East Africa. The various parks, conservancies and ranches have resident wildlife populations so you always have a good chance of fine sightings. The game may move to different areas during the rains or be more concentrated during the dry season. If there is a particular type of game or time of year that you prefer to travel, we will advise you on what would be the most suitable wilderness area for you to visit.

If you have an ailment, disability or are concerned about your level of fitness, please let us know in advance so we can tailor your itinerary to avoid strenuous, energetic activities.

Can children go ‘on safari’?
Most camps and lodges welcome children and offer reduced rates although some do have a minimum age. Naturally we will plan your safari keeping in mind factors such as the ages and interests of your children, your expectations and what you (and they) hope to experience on your visit to Africa.
What immunizations are required?
Vaccines commonly recommended for travelers to Africa include those against:
- Tetanus
- Diphtheria
- Polio
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Yellow fever – Certificate required for entry into, or travel between, some African countries.
- Rabies
- Meningitis
- Several of these vaccines require more than one dose, or take time to become effective. It is always best to seek advice on immunization well in advance, if possible around 6 weeks before departure.

What clothing should we bring?
- a) On game drives in vehicles, any color clothing is OK.
- b) However if doing some walking in the bush natural colors or khaki clothing is the preferred color.
- c) Dark clothing (black and blue) will attract tsetse flies during day, but they are not out at night.
- d) Much of Africa gets cooler in the evenings and early morning (especially the months of June/July/August/September). The best advice is to dress in layers with a sweater and light windbreaker.
- e) Early morning/night temperature can be around (40-60F). During the day it can rise to around (70-86F). Gloves and scarves are a good idea.
Can I use my cell phone?
Your cell phone provider will be able to assist you with the possibility of using your own phone while in Africa; however obtaining international roaming service can be expensive. You will need to have your phone unlocked by your cell phone company in order to use it abroad. In most major cities you will be able to purchase a SIM card and air time which may be exchanged for your normal SIM card if your phone has one. Remember though that reception in the bush may not be possible. Use your cell phone only in private areas of camp for your privacy and in consideration of others.
